Rodding eyes, inspections on tee-pieces and elbows, main manhole and cover. If the gully is overflowing and there is no sewage [as in tissue paper] then the problem is more than likely just confined to the gully itself. This means that all toilets are still functioning and flushing normally.
We will then unblock the gully. This could be as simple as plunging the gully with a plunger or it could be much more serious. If the blockage is a solid blockage then we may need to dig out the whole gully. This is more common if there was any building done recently where the gully was used as the main cleaning point for all the builders!!!.
Your main drain is blocked. Sewage is overflowing out of the gulley or coming up through the lowest point in the house. Other signs of your main drain being blocked are toilets water levels rising, rumbling of baths and toilets alike when the last amount of water leaves each of the various objects.
If the manhole in the corner of your property is overflowing. It is the municipality side that is blocked and you will need to call JHB water on 011 688 1400.
