Blocked Shower
The shower waste is located at the lowest point on the shower floor. It takes the waste water to the main drain situated outside the bathroom. The problem could be any of the following:
- The waste could be blocked up and all we need to do would be to plunge the waste. If the plunger doesn’t work it could be any of the other 3 faults listed, or it could mean that the shower p-trap itself has clogged up with something solid. Normally happens when the bathroom has been recently renovated and tiled. Or something has been dropped into the shower and has now hardened in the actual shower trap. We will need to chisel the shower p-trap out. Messy job. And replace with new one.
- The p-trap is blocked up with fats and/or food stuffs. We can take it out and clean it or replace it altogether.
- PVC pipe is blocked. We will firstly use our manual drain machine to push through the blockage. If this is not possible then we will try cut out the blocked piece. Some pipes are set in the concrete floor and this will mean we will have to chisel up tiles and brickwork.
- The PVC pipe from the shower waste to the main drain is blocked. This could be in the concrete floor. We will access the drain via any access points- if there are any- we will use our 50mm drain machine.
- Outside gully could be blocked and this will look as if the shower piping is blocked. We will use our plunger to unblock the gully.
- The shower drain could have been connected directly to the main drain when it was installed. This means the whole drain is blocked and it will come up in the shower as this is the lowest point.
Some pipes are easier to unblock than others. This all depends on how the pipes were initially installed. The pipe could be in concrete. The pipe could also be high up as is the case in double storey’s and higher. In these cases we will need jackhammer, scaffold or a long ladder. This will obviously affect the price.
